Description

Jean Brinton Jaecks will inspire students to paint the spring garden at the beautiful Hammond Harwood House. The garden surrounds the famous home, with large boxwoods from the early 18 century, urns filled with an abundance of flowers, a dogwood tree and the enclosed brick wall with stunning views of the Naval Academy Chapel. Jean will give a Plein air watercolor demonstration and guidance throughout the afternoon in expressing light and atmosphere in watercolor. A critique will complete the day.

Jean Brinton Jaecks is a visual artist working in watercolor, oil, and egg tempera on vellum with gold and silver leaf. After Jean’s BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art, she was honored with MICA’s Alfred and Trafford Klots International Artist Residency in Brittany. Her MFA thesis at George Washington University, “A Garden Near and Far,” celebrated her garden. Jean taught twenty years at the U.S. Botanic Garden in partnership with the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C.; at St. John’s College in Annapolis; at the National Arboretum and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
