Igor Stravinsky Divertimento from Le baiser de la fée (The Fairy’s Kiss)

This concert is approximately 2 hours in length, with a 20 minute intermission.

In Forces of Nature, the natural world becomes a source of wonder, reflection, and transformation. Emerging composer Luke Soneral opens the program with An Overture: The Mouse and Its Shadow, offering an exciting glimpse of orchestral music’s future. Reinaldo Moya’s ocean-inspired violin concerto, Vestido de Mar, brings violinist Francesca Anderegg to the stage for a work that reflects the landscapes and experiences of the Americas. Tchaikovsky’s The Tempest turns Shakespeare’s storm into a powerful exploration of human nature, while Stravinsky’s The Fairy’s Kiss honors Tchaikovsky through the wintry world of Hans Christian Andersen. Together, these works reveal nature as both an elemental force and a mirror of our inner lives.
