Contra Dance to delightful live music, excellent callers and friendly community
Join us for a joyful evening of contra dancing on fifth Saturdays of the month. Contra dance is a livened-up version of English country dancing, traditionally done to Celtic music and now to a range of music genres.  It was popular in English country estates, then embraced in colonial America and the Appalachians. Start at 6:30 with a 30-minute lesson to learn the basics and carry on from there until 9:30. All dances are taught and then "called," as with square and English dances. No experience or partner required.  Attire is simply comfortable clothing and soft-soled shoes. No registration needed; just show up.  Venue is temperature controlled with filter fans for air circulation and ventilation.  Plenty of parking.  Join us for an evening of fun and camaraderie.
