WHAT TO EXPECT

This time-travel event is curated by our resident film nerds. Each month brings a carefully selected gem from the world of cinema's hidden corners. Think surrealist masterpieces, haunting silent films with live musical accompaniment, and underground treasures that challenge perspectives and expand minds.

The evening unfolds as more than just a screening. Arrive early for pre-film discussions where our curators share insights and context. After the credits roll, dive deeper into post-screening conversations that explore themes, techniques, and the lasting impact of these remarkable works.

Of course, no proper film night is complete without snacks and sips to fuel the experience and discussions.

JULY SCREENING

The film screening for the month of July is The Golem: How He Came into the World (Der Golem) 1920.

In medieval Prague, Rabbi Loew has read the stars and foreseen calamity for his community at the hands of the Emperor and sets about creating a supernatural being, a Golem, for their protection. All seems well until a realignment of the stars permits the demon Astaroth to possess the Golem and it runs amok. 

AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE

We are excited to be showing Paul Wegener’s masterpiece with a live score by Adrian Bond and atmospheric projections by Joseph Karr.
